A new kind of condo | The San Diego Union-Tribune

The San Diego Union Tribune has this story on rowhomes in the city.

I also like the row home concept. In many cases you also have a small back yard and a garage. There are more row homes in the Bankers Hill neighborhood than the other downtown areas. There are several projects underway at the moment on Bankers Hill. I do not think row homes are allowed downtown by CCDC anymore. Good examples of rowhomes downtown are Rowhomes on F and Citimark at Cortez.

Hi Mr. Brightside...

I read the article on rowhouses and they sound like what I would be interested in.

Not being from the San Diego area, how do you search for such "townhomes"? I their a lsit of such developments? It doesn't appear that it's a common search specifier.

Any suggestions?

There isn't published a list of townhouse developments that I know of it. I have a lot of documents and knowledge that I can use to help you out. What parts of the city are you interested in?

Hi Mr. Brightside...

I am interested in Banker's Hill, Pt. Loma (I am not too knowledgeable about the better sections, though your site is helping me become better educated).

Generally I don't need to be in the downtown congestion but I would like a view and not to be too far from what is happening downtown.

Thanks for any additional info you can supply and thank you, in general, for providing such a great resource.

Banker's Hill has 4-5 townhouse projects that are in place and a few that are under construction. The prices approach $1,000,000 for the really nice places and $800,000 as a lower price range.

If these numbers work for you let me know and I'll work on some ideas for you.

Hi Mr. Brightside...

I didn't think that rowhouses would be that much more than condos. I am looking interested in the $650,000 to $750,000 range. Maybe my expectations are too high or maybe I need to sit on the sidelines until prices settle.

Thanks,

Rich

Hi Rich,

Row homes are fairly rare and Banker's Hill is pretty exclusive. Prices are coming down though.

I'm actually getting ready to go for a walk through Bankers Hill so if I see anything interesting I'll post it.
